Performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance and operation of the City arena and related outdoor and indoor recreational facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities

¨ Assists in the operation and maintenance of 12-month or year round City arena facility, equipment and grounds, including ice installation, maintenance and removal, rink equipment maintenance and repair, and lighting and sound systems maintenance.
¨ Prepares for use and maintains outdoor fields and playing surfaces.
¨ Assists with the maintenance, operation and repair of arena refrigeration system and other facility systems.
¨ Maintains and operates ice resurfacing equipment.
¨ Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of arena facilities.
¨ Maintains accurate records of skate sharpening, ticket and ice rental sales.
¨ Provides various arena patron services, including supervising public skating sessions, ticket sales, ushering, public address, first aid and comfort facilities.
¨ Maintains security of the office, equipment, funds and the facility.
¨ Assists the general public as needed.
¨ Responsible for snow removal of city parking lots and walkways.
¨ Opens, closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(a) Working knowledge in horticulture and grounds maintenance, including lawn care, working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance as it relates to arena, parks and recreational facilities; knowledge in the areas of plumbing, carpentry and electrical work; knowledge of small engine operation and maintenance; knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
(b) Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment.
(c) Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to function in a team-based environment, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
(a) Must possess a valid State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
(b) Must be able to work varied hours and days including evenings, weekends and holidays.
(c) Must demonstrate good communication and public relation skills.
Desirable Training and Experience
Education and Experience:
(a) This position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, and some work experience, preferably related to arena and/or outdoor / indoor recreational facilities maintenance.
Part-time, year-round position with daytime, evening and weekends hours = average 25-28 hours/week.
