BEMIDJI POLICE DEPARTMENT K9 PROGRAM

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM:
Over the past year, the Bemidji Police Department has been working toward re-establishing our canine program. Unfortunately, the department has not had a canine program since K9 Justus retired in the early 1990’s.  Due to lack of funding, the Bemidji Police Department has had to rely on surrounding agencies to assist with our K9 needs.

We are excited to announce the newest Bemidji K9 will make his debut in March 2024.  This Labrador Retriever will be highly trained in the detection of controlled substances, assist officers in locating evidence, missing people and non-violent offenders.  Officer Kniss and this K9 will attend 12 weeks of training; beginning in March.  Officer Kniss and her new partner are excited to enhance police and community relationships at local events and be a positive figure for our community.

In an effort to help meet our fundraising goal of $130,000, the Bemidji Police Department will be hosting various events and campaigns. Stay tuned and be sure to check back often!
