The Charter Commission is an independent body.  Its members are appointed by the Chief Judge of the Ninth Judicial District.  The commission is tasked to periodically review and suggest resolutions regarding issues related to the charter.
The Commission meets annually in June.  Members serve staggered, four-year terms which terms expire June 1.  Notices of vacancies and the annual appointment process for the Charter Commission will be posted here. Once appointed, members are required to attend all meetings and must acquaint themselves with the needs of the city with a view to making recommendations to this Commission.
Applications will be accepted for one term expiring June 1, 2024 on the Charter Commission from May 20, 2024 until June 21, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.  For more information and the application see documents below.
